David Oates

is the author six books of nonfiction and poetry, including Paradise Wild: Reimagining American Nature (Oregon State). He writes about nature and urban life from Portland, Oregon. As Kittredge Distinguished Visiting Writer at the University of Montana, he produced a collection of new nature writing, A Natural History of Now (Kelson Books). His essays and articles have appeared in Orion, Earth Island Journal, Creative Nonfiction, High Country News, and elsewhere.
