Elizabeth Spires is the author of six volumes of poetry, including, most recently, The Wave-Maker. She has also published six books for children, most recently I Heard God Talking to Me: William Edmondson and His Stone Carvings. A recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim Foundation, she is a professor of English at Goucher College in Baltimore, where she directs the Kratz Center for Creative Writing.
