Evie Shockley is the author of a half-red sea (Carolina Wren Press, 2006) and The Gorgon Goddess (Carolina Wren Press, 2001). Her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in No Tell Motel, Studio, Pluck!, PMS, 1913, Torch, and The Ringing Ear: Black Poets Lean South. Shockley, a Cave Canem Fellow, is an assistant professor of English at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. She currently serves as a guest editor of jubilat and is writing a book on the relationship between black aesthetics and formal innovation in African American poetry.
