Frank X Walker is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and Spalding University. A founding member of the Affrilachian Poets, he is a Cave Canem Fellow and the editor of America! What’s My Name: The Other Poets Unfurl the Flag. He is the author of four poetry collections, including Black Box (Old Cove Press, 2005), Buffalo Dance: the Journey of York (University Press of Kentucky, 2004), which won the Lillian Smith Book Award, Affrilachia (Old Cove Press, 2000), and When Winter Come: The Ascension of York (University Press of Kentucky, 2008). He is also the editor and publisher of PLUCK! The Journal of Affrilachian Arts & Culture. He has received a Lannan Literary Fellowship for poetry and currently serves as a writer-in-residence at Northern Kentucky University.
