She received her MFA from Florida State University and her PhD from the University of Southern Mississippi’s Center for Writers, where she served as associate editor of Mississippi Review.

•Ma Barker Floats Across Lake Weir

Ma recognized the feral look in the reptiles’ eyes, the desperation in their throat flares—hunting for a mate. At least Fred had left the girlfriends behind and there was nowhere on this lake to find another.
